Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq with the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Beecroft overall bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and ways of developing them to serve the interests of the Iraqi people and the U.S..

A statement by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister was received by all of Iraq [where] a copy of it on Thursday, “it was during the meeting to focus on the situation of Iraq and the initiative launched by al-Mutlaq, calling for political reforms and the economic, social and comprehensive review of the file security.”

The statement added, “The two officials also discussed the importance of the strategic framework agreement concluded between the Iraqi and U.S. governments, and also touched to the regional and serious events taking place in a number of countries, particularly Syria and Egypt.”

For his part, “the U.S. ambassador expressed hope that the Iraqi parties reach understandings lead to pull the country out of its current crisis, stressing his government’s keenness on the stability of the political and security situation in Iraq.”
