Iraq declares state of alert C during census curfew identifies exempted categoriesShafaq News/ The Supreme Security Committee for the Population Census announced, on Monday, a state of alert (C) for the Iraqi security and military forces during the census curfew scheduled to be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday.

The committee said in a statement read by the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, and followed by Shafaq News Agency, “The curfew will take effect at midnight on November 19-20 at 2:400, i.e. 12 midnight, and will continue until 2:400 on the night of November 21-22, including the governorates of the Kurdistan Region.”

He continued, “The movement of citizens, vehicles and trains will be restricted when the curfew comes into effect between governorates, districts and sub-districts, between urban and rural areas, and between sub-districts and sub-districts and vice versa, except in humanitarian cases, extreme necessity and what is imposed by security, natural and climatic conditions.”

The exception also includes “the statistics directorates in Baghdad and all governorates, enumerators, district directors, village directors and their assistants, supervisors, observers, journalists and authorized media personnel who carry authorization badges issued by the Communications and Media Commission, in addition to “the health and medical personnel’s guards who will be on duty in their hospitals during the two curfew days.”
