Iraq announces self-sufficiency in kerosene and gas oil production.

Shafaq News/ The Oil Products Distribution Company announced on Saturday that Iraq has achieved self-sufficiency in producing gas oil and kerosene during the current period.
“Iraq has achieved self-sufficiency in the production of kerosene and gas oil, in addition to achieving near-self-sufficiency in gasoline,” the company’s general manager, Hussein Talib, said in a statement today. He noted that “imported quantities of gasoline have declined significantly over the past year to a year and a half.”
He added, “The volume of imports used to reach about 15 to 16 million liters per day, but now it has decreased to only 5 to 6 million liters.” He explained that “the quantities imported are currently limited to super gasoline (high octane), which is mixed with the local production of intermediate products in the refineries, which contributes to maximizing production and filling the gasoline deficit.”
Taleb emphasized that “the plans put in place to improve refinery efficiency and increase production capacity have directly contributed to reducing the need for imports and achieving tangible progress toward self-sufficiency in petroleum products.”
