The signing of the contract was attended by the Minister of Electricity, Majed Al-Amara, and the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, while the general manager of the General Electric Power Transmission Company / Central Region Barak Saad Nour signed the contract on the Iraqi side, and on the Jordanian side, the Director General of the National Electricity Company, Amjad Rawashdeh.
After the signing, Minister Zawati stressed the importance of the Jordanian-Iraqi connection in enhancing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq within the framework of Jordan’s aspiration to connect with neighboring countries for the purpose of exchanging electric energy, which would contribute to the stability of electrical systems and serve the trend towards establishing a common Arab energy market, which in turn will work to enhance integration. Arab economist.
She also stressed the importance of the contract, which is consistent with the goals of the comprehensive strategy for the energy sector for the years 2020-2030, for Jordan to be a regional center for the exchange of energy in all its forms, especially after signing a memorandum of understanding for the electrical connection with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which constitutes a start for the comprehensive Arab electrical interconnection projects.
