Iraq advances two ranks among the top holders of US Treasury bonds

Shafaq News/ The US Treasury announced, on Saturday, that Iraq ranked 34th among the top foreign holders of treasury bonds.
And according to the latest table issued by the Treasury, seen by Shafak News Agency, “Iraq has risen two ranks to reach the 34th place among the 37 countries with the largest possession of US Treasury bonds, which are listed in the table for countries that hold more than 30 billion dollars.”
And she added, “Iraq’s possession of these bonds amounted to 35.6 billion dollars for the month of August, an increase of 2.89 percent over the month of July 2022, and an increase of 88.36 percent over the same month of last year 2021.”
And she pointed out that “Iraq was the fourth largest Arab country after Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, while Japan came at the top of the countries with the largest possession of these bonds, followed by China second and the United Kingdom third,” noting that “the total bonds of the world’s countries amounted to 7 trillion and 509 billion dollars.”
