The Ministry of Communications announced today, Wednesday, that Iraq has made progress in the Global ICT Index (IDI) for 2025, which is a new digital achievement.
A statement from the ministry, received by Al-Maalouma Agency, stated that “Iraq has made remarkable progress in the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IDI) for 2025, according to the annual report issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), scoring 78.4 points compared to 73.9 points in 2024, at a rapid pace that reflects the noticeable improvement in its digital readiness.”
He added, “This advancement comes as a result of the ongoing efforts led by the Ministry of Communications, headed by Minister Hiyam Al-Yasiri, which focused on the importance of developing the digital infrastructure, expanding access to internet services, and improving the quality of service provided to citizens.”
He continued, “The IDI is considered one of the most prominent international indicators globally adopted to measure the development of the communications and information technology sector, as it relies on indicators, the level of digital use and skills.”
He stressed that “this achievement stems from Iraq’s determination to keep pace with the global digital transformation process, which constitutes a pioneering model for the future of the region and positive steps towards strengthening its position in digital economy technologies, thus contributing to supporting innovation and sustainable development in the country.”
