Iran’s representative to the International Maritime Organization, Ali Mousavi, confirmed on Sunday that ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz, with the exception of enemy ships. Mousavi stated that “ships, with the exception of ‘enemy’ ships, can pass through the Strait of Hormuz according to security arrangements.”
He added that “international obligations must be accompanied by respect for Iran’s territorial integrity and rights,” stressing that “Iran is ready to cooperate with the organization and countries to improve maritime safety.” He continued that “the Strait of Hormuz is open to everyone except ‘enemies,’ and the safety of ships requires coordination with Iran,” noting that “the aggression of the United States and Israel is the origin of the current situation in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.”
