Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, denied on Wednesday reports that the Iranian negotiating delegation’s trip to Switzerland had been cancelled.
IRNA quoted a source as saying that “the decision-making authorities in Iran are still studying the mechanism for formalizing the memorandum of understanding.”
The source added: “There has been no change to the Swiss negotiations program, and the news circulating about the cancellation of the Iranian delegation’s trip is untrue.”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced late Sunday night that the United States and Iran had reached a “peace agreement” that would immediately end all military operations in the Middle East, including in Lebanon, with a signing ceremony to be held in Geneva on June 19.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Swiss Foreign Ministry confirmed that it had been in close contact with the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar for several days, with the aim of facilitating a meeting to discuss the possible signing of a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, as well as facilitating the arrival of delegations to Switzerland.
