Iranian Energy Minister - Iraq paid us 400 million and an agreement to supply it with electricity for two years{International: Al Furat News} The Iranian Energy Minister, Reza Ardakianian, expressed his satisfaction with the results of his visit to Iraq, announcing the signing of an agreement to export Iranian electricity to Iraq for a period of two years.
Ardakanian said, in a press statement, that all the agreements of electricity exports to Iraq were for a period of one year previously, but during this visit an agreement was signed in this regard for a period of two years, 2020 and 2021.
He added, in light of the follow-up of the Iranian Islamic Republic’s representative in Iraq, During the visit, half of the Iranian dues to export electricity to Iraq, or about 400 million dollars, were collected.
He stated that during the visit, he met with Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Finance Minister Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, in addition to his Iraqi counterpart Majid Mahdi Hantush and other Iraqi officials, describing his talks with Iraqi officials as having produced good results.
He explained that during the meetings with Iraqi officials, research had been conducted on previous agreements, including the program to rehabilitate the Iraqi electricity industry by the Iranian private sector and Iran’s dues towards its exports of electricity to Iraq.
He added that it was decided that technical and specialized teams from the Iranian private sector would visit Iraq next week to sign two important agreements in the field of reducing energy waste in the Iraqi electricity distribution network, as well as the repair and rehabilitation of Iraqi electricity equipment and devices.
He expressed his satisfaction with the results of the visit and indicated that he had also spoken on behalf of other ministries about finding more facilities for commercial exchange in other fields between the two countries.
