Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, confirmed that his country will not cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as it has done in the past, noting that the agency’s silence regarding attacks targeting peaceful nuclear facilities undermines the effectiveness of this cooperation. Gharibabadi explained, in an interview broadcast on Iranian television early Sunday morning, that the agency may submit requests regarding the facilities that were attacked, “but the Islamic Republic of Iran sees no justification for treating it at the same level in light of its continued silence regarding the attacks.”
Regarding the recent escalation, Abadi stressed that Tehran’s response falls within the framework of its legitimate right to self-defense, saying, “As long as the Security Council does not take action to stop the aggression, or the aggressor does not cease its attacks, Iran’s responses are legitimate under international law.”
He also stated that what the Zionist entity is doing has no legal basis, denying its right to speak of self-defense, adding that “the entity raised the same allegations during its aggression on Gaza, and they are legally unacceptable.”
