Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, announced that his country has removed the International Atomic Energy Agency’s surveillance cameras from its nuclear facilities, in implementation of a recent parliamentary decision. Kowsari stated in a statement carried by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency that this step comes within the framework of a law passed by the Iranian Parliament that restricts cooperation with the agency in light of what he described as biased and unprofessional behavior by the agency’s director, Rafael Grossi.
He explained that the agency’s inspectors chose to leave Iran on their own, and that this decision is a direct result of the implementation of a new law requiring security guarantees before any inspections are permitted.
Kowsari also added that, unfortunately, Grossi had shared information he had obtained from his visits to Tehran with the Americans and the Zionist entity, which led to a loss of trust and the suspension of cooperation with the agency being placed on the parliament’s agenda.
On June 24, the Iranian parliament voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stating that any future access for inspectors would be conditional on the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and on ensuring the security of peaceful nuclear facilities.
