Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially notified the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Wednesday that he was suspending cooperation with the organization, in implementation of a recent Shura Council decision on the matter.
Mehr News Agency reported that “Pezeshkian, in an official letter, informed the Atomic Energy Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Supreme National Security Council of the law requiring the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”
The law is based on Articles 123 and 85 of the Iranian Constitution, which was approved by the Guardian Council after being ratified in a public session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly last Wednesday. The law stipulates that Iran will suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) until appropriate conditions are met.
Under this law, the government is obligated to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under additional safeguards measures, unless this is done within the framework of explicit parliamentary agreements, according to Mehr News Agency.
