Imam Khomeini Airport in the Iranian capital Tehran announced on Saturday that flights to Türkiye, Malaysia, China, Pakistan, Vietnam and Afghanistan will continue according to their pre-established schedules.
The airport administration said in a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency that, with the exception of canceled flights, including flights to the UAE, Iraq, Oman and Georgia, no new flight cancellations have been announced.
He added that the airport administration is “working hard” to reopen the suspended flights as soon as possible.
This development comes amid sanctions announced by the US Treasury Department on September 8 against 36 entities linked to the Iranian aviation sector, including 27 airlines.
The administration of Najaf International Airport decided to suspend all flights arriving from and departing to Iran, starting from 2:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2026, until further notice, based on official directives from the competent authorities.
But the Iraqi government announced on Saturday that it is conducting direct talks with the US administration to exempt some Iraqi airports from the ban on Iranian flights.
