Iran agrees to enrichment restrictions in exchange for lifting sanctions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Abbas affirmed on Sunday his country’s readiness to reach a genuine agreement that includes restrictions on uranium enrichment in exchange for the lifting of Western sanctions imposed on it.
In an article published in the British newspaper The Guardian, Araqchi said that his country is ready for a real and lasting agreement on its nuclear program, including restrictions on uranium enrichment in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
Missing this brief opportunity could have dire consequences for the region and the world, he said, stressing that “if diplomacy is not given the necessary time, the outcome will not be satisfactory.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister asserted that “the Iranian armed forces are now ready and capable of defeating Israel to the point that it will force it to turn to the United States for survival,” he said.
Araghchi once again criticized the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany) for activating the so-called “trigger mechanism,” which could lead to the reimposition of sanctions on Iran within 30 days, describing the move as “illegal.”
According to Araghchi, “Europe has failed to fulfill its obligations under the 2015 nuclear agreement, while demanding that Iran unilaterally accept all restrictions imposed on it. He pointed out that Britain, Germany, and France refused to condemn the Israeli-American attack on Iran last June.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister said on Saturday that it is impossible to return to negotiations with Washington in the form they were in before the war.
Araghchi spoke of the nearness of reaching an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The agency estimates that, prior to the Israeli and American attacks, Iran possessed enough 60% enriched nuclear material to manufacture six nuclear weapons, if enriched to a higher purity of 90%.
Last June, over a period of 12 days, Israel targeted nuclear facilities, military and civilian sites, assassinating senior military leaders, including the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, the Chief of Staff, and prominent nuclear scientists. Iran responded with a series of missile attacks that caused unprecedented destruction in several Israeli cities.
