Including Harris and Clinton - Trump revokes security clearances of 12 of his opponentsShafaq News/ In a memo issued late Friday night, US President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to revoke the security clearances of more than a dozen perceived political opponents, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The memo, published by CNN, stated: “I hereby direct all executive departments and agency heads to take all necessary additional actions consistent with applicable law to immediately revoke any valid security clearances held by the above-mentioned individuals and revoke their access to classified information.”

The memo added: “This procedure includes, but is not limited to, receiving classified briefings, such as the President’s Daily Brief, and access to classified information held by any member of the Intelligence Community by virtue of their prior congressional service.”

This move represents the latest example of Trump revoking security clearances from his political rivals. The president stated in February that he would “immediately” revoke former President Joe Biden’s security clearance and halt his daily intelligence briefings. He has also used similar revocations to crack down on major law firms.

Friday’s order formalized the revocation of Biden’s security clearance, along with several other individuals previously authorized by the Trump administration to have their clearances revoked, and barred the former president’s family from accessing classified information—assuming they had any clearances.

In addition to his Democratic rivals in the 2016 and 2024 elections, Trump also revoked the security clearances of the two Republican members of the House committee investigating his role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection—former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger—and the Biden family.

Earlier this month, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said that, at Trump’s direction, she had revoked the security clearances of several individuals named in Friday’s order, including senior Biden administration officials, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and two lawyers who brought legal cases against Trump: New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
