Victory Alliance leader Haider al-Abadi confirmed that the elections will be held as scheduled in November of this year, while noting that there is information suggesting the possibility of tampering with the results, without disclosing further details.
During a meeting Wednesday evening with a group of academics and journalists at his office, attended by Al-Maalouma, al-Abadi said, “The next phase requires focusing on vital issues, most notably ensuring fairness in the distribution of state resources, and leveraging security stability to improve administrative performance and create real job opportunities that achieve a balance between revenues and expenditures.”
He added, “Iraq is in dire need of a comprehensive reform vision that addresses the waste of public funds and limits the influence of political money, given its direct impact on economic development and financial stability.”
Al-Abadi stressed the need to “intensify efforts to combat corruption within institutions and work to create a transparent governance environment that supports the state’s path and meets citizens’ aspirations.”
