An American report revealed a plot to assassinate Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the current US president, noting that the leader of Kataib Hezbollah, Muhammad Baqir al-Saadi, was behind it, in revenge for the killing of the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, in an American strike near Baghdad airport in 2020.
The New York Post reported, in a report translated by Shafaq News Agency, that Al-Saadi, 32, pledged to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to assassinate Ivanka Trump, and that he had a plan of her house in the US state of Florida, according to sources.
She added that al-Saadi was seeking to target the Trump family in retaliation for the killing of Soleimani in an American strike near Baghdad airport six years ago.
The newspaper quoted Intifadh Qanbar, the former deputy Iraqi military attaché in Washington, as saying that “Al-Saadi kept saying after Soleimani’s killing that Ivanka should be killed and Trump’s house burned down,” adding: “We heard that he had a map of her house in Florida.”
According to the report, in 2021, Al-Saadi posted a map on the X platform showing the area where Ivanka Trump and her husband, Concher, live in Florida, accompanied by a threat in Arabic that said: “Neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you… We are now in the monitoring and analysis phase.”
The newspaper noted that Al-Saadi was raised in Baghdad before moving to Tehran for training with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and later founded a religious travel company that allowed him to travel between several countries.
The US Justice Department said al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey on May 15, before being extradited to the United States, where he faces charges of carrying out or planning 18 attacks in Europe and the United States.
According to the ministry, the charges include attacks on American and Jewish targets, including throwing firebombs at a bank in Amsterdam, stabbing two Jews in London, and firing shots at the American consulate building in Toronto.
The newspaper also reported that Al-Saadi was carrying an Iraqi service passport, a document granted to state employees that provides facilities for travel and movement within Iraqi airports, noting that obtaining it requires official government approvals.
