The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced on Thursday evening the suspension of flights by Iranian airlines to and from the country, effective immediately and until further notice.
The authority confirmed in a statement that the decision to suspend operations was based on the US ban imposed on Iranian airlines using airports in various countries around the world.
The authority explained that it will continue to inform the relevant authorities and the public of any developments as soon as they occur, until air traffic between the two countries returns to normal.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation called on the public to obtain information only from official and approved sources.
Earlier today, the Iranian news agency ISNA announced the cancellation of all Iranian airlines’ flights to the UAE, effective from midnight last night.
US sanctions on Iran’s civil aviation sector came into effect on Wednesday, after Washington imposed sanctions on 27 Iranian airlines, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent.
