A responsible security source reported on Saturday that US forces have imposed strict and unprecedented security measures at Ain al-Assad Air Base in the al-Baghdadi district of Hit, west of Anbar province.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “American forces closed all entrances and exits of the base building and deployed ground forces around it, while warplanes and drones provided an air umbrella in anticipation of any emergency.”
He added that “the heightened security measures came in response to information about a high-ranking US official’s intention to visit the troops at the base,” noting that “the purpose of the visit is to assess the security situation at the base and boost the morale of the American soldiers, amidst the implementation of strict precautionary measures to ensure safety and security.”
