“In a hole”… 14 billion new dinars seized in the Al-Jumaili case

On Thursday, the investigating judge of the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court announced the seizure of 14 billion Iraqi dinars in the case of the detained Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Liquidation Affairs, Adnan al-Jumaili, and the parties involved with him.
The judge added, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that as a result of the careful follow-up to seize the financial proceeds resulting from the waste in the projects implemented by the accused and the parties to the case, these sums were seized, which were hidden in one of the pits prepared for rainwater drainage, and that investigations are continuing to reach all those involved.
The Iraqi judiciary had previously announced, last Monday, July 6, the seizure of 25 billion Iraqi dinars and one million dollars, in addition to gold jewelry estimated at about five kilograms, placed inside plastic water bottles and hidden in the home of the accused in the city of Tikrit.
The investigating judge at the time indicated that the total amount of money seized in the case had risen to 127 billion Iraqi dinars and 24 million dollars, in addition to the seized real estate, vehicles and gold jewelry.
Shafaq News Agency quoted a security source as saying that sums of money and vehicles were seized during a search operation in Al-Sharqat district in Salah al-Din Governorate, as part of procedures related to the case of the detained Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, Adnan al-Jumaili.
