On Sunday, the popular movement for the Belt and Road called on the government to put an end to the actions of the US ambassador to Iraq and limit her role.
The head of the organizing body, Hussein Ali Al-Karawi, said in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, “The suspicious movements of the American ambassador, Elena Romanowsky, especially her visit to the western provinces, have a clear indication of creating a rift between the people of Iraq after her presence in the popular community ended.”
He added, “These moves come to spread the spirit of division, in addition to trying to maintain the leadership of al-Halbousi to act with the Sunni political decision as the first sponsor to strike the silk project.”
He pointed out that “its interference in the work of the House of Representatives is aimed at imposing trusteeship and passing what serves American interests at the expense of the interests of Iraq and its people.”
In a previous interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, the representative of the Al-Sadiqun Parliamentary Bloc, Rafik Al-Salihi, expressed his surprise at the government’s silence towards the interventions of the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanowski, describing them as attempts to blatantly interfere in Iraqi internal political affairs.
