MP Yasser Hashem confirmed on Monday that the government has disrupted the budget schedules despite the approval of the three-year budget within the House of Representatives, stressing that the next parliament is required to hold the government accountable for this disruption.
Hashim told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The approval of the three-year budget in Parliament was an important step, but the government did not commit to implementing its schedules, which negatively affected public projects and services.”
He added that “the next parliament has a great responsibility to ensure the implementation of the budget items and to hold the government accountable, with the need to apply strict oversight to prevent the recurrence of such practices.”
Hashim pointed out that “the government has halted transfers within ministries despite them not incurring additional costs, and has frozen the allocations for the governorates for 2024 and 2025, while continuing to spend on projects under its direct management.”
