Today, Monday, the President of the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council, Hammam Hamoudi, commented on Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s request to end the political role of “UNAMI” in Iraq, while considering it a bold and responsible initiative.
Hamoudi said, in a statement received by Al-Rabaa, that “ending the political role of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) is a bold and responsible initiative presented by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations during their meeting in Munich, as it confirms the confidence of the Iraqis and their national forces.” themselves and their abilities to manage the country’s affairs without interference from an external party, and the level of maturity of their political and democratic experiences, in light of the security and stability achieved.”
He added: “While we value this initiative, we call on the political forces to assume their national responsibilities in managing various files based on their self-confidence, their capabilities, and Iraqi privacy, away from external interference, especially after Iraq regained its position in the region and became an important pole in bringing the viewpoints of some of its countries closer together and solving their problems.” and a basis for its stability.”
