Shafaq News/ A local source in Basra reported on Wednesday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani will visit the governorate tomorrow to review the progress rates in the Grand Faw Port.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani will visit Basra Governorate tomorrow, Thursday, accompanied by the Minister of Transport to receive the five berths in the Grand Faw Port, out of 50 berths in the port.”
He added that “Al-Sudani will review, during his visit to the governorate, the progress rates on the Grand Faw Port Road and the projects in the port.”
The source indicated that “Al-Sudani will open a number of projects in the governorate in addition to visiting the oil fields.”
On September 14, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed the need to intensify research and explanations regarding the Grand Faw Port projects, the development path, and the opportunities they will provide, noting that these two projects are a fundamental gateway to economic growth in Iraq and the region, and an important pillar for expanding the non-oil economy.
Al-Sudani stressed that the quadripartite agreement between Iraq, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE constitutes the axis of operating the development road, but the project is open to positive partnership with all those wishing to contribute to this international development effort, stressing that the global economy today has come to depend on the main corridors for trade, manufacturing, and integration, and the development road project will be an important axis of these international corridors.
The Grand Faw Port is a key element in the development road project that links East Asian countries to the West via Iraq.
