The head of the Parliamentary Committee No. 160, MP Yasser Al-Husseini, accused the government on Thursday of ignoring serious corruption files in the General Company for Iraqi Ports.
Al-Husseini told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The government knows the extent of corruption in Iraqi ports, but it is not taking any action against the corrupt.”
He added, “The committee has prepared its initial report, which will be presented during the next session before members of the House of Representatives,” noting that “there is a clear deliberate attempt by the government not to send data, and even the Board of Supreme Audit did not obtain the data from the General Company for Iraqi Ports and the Ministry of Transport, so the Board moved towards filing lawsuits against the Ministry of Transport.”
He pointed out that “the report contains a number of catastrophic violations, the extent of corruption, and the failure to implement legal procedures regarding suspicious files in the management of ports.”
