The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, affirmed that the National Sovereignty Day on September 30th represents the true cornerstone in the path of building the modern Iraqi state, considering it to be a document of security for all components of the Iraqi people and not just a political protocol title.
Al-Nu’man said in a statement to the official newspaper, which was followed by “Mail”, that “National Sovereignty Day represents the true cornerstone in the path of building the modern Iraqi state”, indicating that “this occasion is an explicit declaration of the completion of field capabilities and the full possession of the responsible defense decision.”
He added, “The most prominent significance of this day is the transformation of the concept of sovereignty from a mere political and protocol title to a fully realized security reality, managed by the Iraqi armed forces with complete efficiency and professionalism, and under the exclusive authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”
He added, “Reviving this occasion confirms to the whole world that Iraq has established the foundations of strategic parity in its foreign and international relations, and has succeeded in fortifying its internal front with the determination of its people and the strength of its national and security institutions.”
Al-Nu’man stressed that “Sovereignty Day is not limited to the military aspect only, but it represents a security document for all components of the Iraqi people, and a firm and unwavering pledge that the official state weapon is the only umbrella that protects the homeland’s territory and preserves the dignity of its citizens without exception.”
