Shafaq News/ The Fatah Alliance, led by Hadi al-Amiri, confirmed on Sunday that the Coordination Framework forces would not impose a veto on the second term of current Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, while explaining the mechanism that could resolve this matter.
“The talk about a veto by some forces within the Coordination Framework on the renewal of the second term of current Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is incorrect. There is no such rejection from any political party within the framework, and this matter was not even discussed between these parties,” coalition leader Adi al-Khadran told Shafaq News Agency.
Al-Khadran added that “the decision on whether or not to hold Al-Sudani’s second term will be made after the current Iraqi government’s term ends and after a comprehensive evaluation of Al-Sudani’s work and success in managing the government and important and sensitive files is conducted. If the evaluation is positive, he will certainly be renewed. Otherwise, he will not be renewed.” He explained, “Especially since Al-Sudani’s success is the success of the framework that formed this government, supported it, and continues to support it. This is how Al-Sudani’s second term will be decided.”
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced his participation in the elections through a broad coalition called the “Reconstruction and Development Coalition,” which includes seven political blocs. The coalition will contest the parliamentary elections scheduled for November .
In addition to the Euphrates Current led by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, this coalition includes the Sumerian Gathering led by Minister of Labor Ahmed al-Asadi, the National Coalition led by Iyad Allawi, the Karbala Creativity Alliance led by Karbala Governor Nassif al-Khattabi, the Generations Gathering led by MP Mohammed al-Sayhoud, and the National Solutions Alliance led by Mohammed Sahib al-Daraji .
The seventh political entity was the “National Contract,” led by Faleh al-Fayyadh, who has led the Popular Mobilization Forces since 2014.
