On Wednesday, the leader in the coordination framework, Jabbar Odeh, praised the Iraqi government’s move to pay gas debts to Iran.
In an interview with Al-Maalouma, Odeh said, “The Baghdad agreement on the mechanism of supplying Iranian gas in exchange for black oil was decided through a round of talks that lasted for days by technical teams before reaching the specific points according to which the signing took place.”
He added, “The agreement surprised the US embassy in Baghdad, which did not expect the Sudanese government to succeed in finding a solution within days to ensure the payment of dues to Iranian companies after Washington’s sanctions that impede the sending of money.”
He pointed out that “the dollar is no longer a guaranteed currency in light of its repeated use by America as tools to besiege countries and provoke crises, as is happening in Iraq now.”
And the government made an important agreement with Iran yesterday to supply Iranian gas in exchange for black oil according to the barter principle that allows paying costs without resorting to the dollar.
