Former parliamentarian - Al-Kazemis government does not have the authority to approve the financial budgetShafaq News/ Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee in the former parliament, Jamal Kougar, confirmed on Wednesday that the Iraqi Council of Ministers does not have the authority to approve the general budget law for the year 2022, given that the government has turned into a caretaker after the parliament was dissolved.

Cougar told Shafaq News Agency, “It is not within the authority of the current cabinet to approve the general budget law and send it to Parliament, given that the latter has been dissolved since October 7 last.”

He added that “the work of the Council of Ministers is currently considered a caretaker, and therefore it cannot pass the law,” noting that “the 2022 budget will be close and similar to the 2021 budget.”

Cougar explained, “The financial disbursement for the year 2022 will be similar to the current year, according to the principle of Law 1/12 until the formation of the new government and the approval of the budget.”
