Former MP Mohamed Ibrahim considered, on Saturday, the adoption of a three-year budget a wrong and impractical procedure that caused an increase in the financial deficit rates annually.

Ibrahim said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “Setting a three-year budget is a procedure that suits economically stable countries with diverse revenues, not a country like Iraq that depends entirely on oil revenues, the price of which is constantly changing.”

He added that “the financial deficit rate has been increasing annually since the adoption of the three-year budget,” warning that “the situation may take a turn for the worse, especially in light of the regional and global circumstances and the repercussions of the conflict and the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.”

Earlier today, MPs confirmed that the budget tables have not yet reached Parliament, while stressing the need to scrutinize them to prevent any cases of tampering with their items.
