Former MP Ahmed Al-Kanani described, today, Saturday, the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the presence of American combat forces in Iraq as unfortunate.
Al-Kanani said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs are misleading and baseless, and the American presence today is clearly and blatantly tampering with Iraq’s security from time to time,” noting that “these statements are a prelude to the presence of these forces in the country.”
He added, “The Foreign Minister must represent Iraq, not his personal opinion on such important matters concerning the country,” noting that “the position of most political forces on this presence is still clear and they will not accept anything less than the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq.”
He added: “The Foreign Minister’s statement is unfortunate and cannot be understood except as a marketing of the justifications put forward by the US administration for its continued presence on Iraqi soil.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously announced the postponement of the announcement of the end of the international coalition mission in Iraq due to recent developments, according to its claim, while confirming that there were no American forces in the country.
