Former MP Nada Shaker accused, on Monday, the previous government of being behind the exacerbation of four “black” phenomena in Iraqi society.

In an interview with Al-Maalouma, Shaker said, “The level of corruption of the previous government led by Mustafa Al-Kadhimi is very high,” considering that “the theft of the century is only one of dozens of evidences of the misery of the situation and the extent of the great infringement on the country’s capabilities and the spread of corruption in its institutions.”

And she added, “The corruption of the Al-Kazemi government and its complacency in confronting the thieves of public money caused the exacerbation of organized crime, poverty and divorce, leading to drug addiction,” stressing that “the poor living conditions have reached critical stages in most regions of the country, and the government bears the brunt of what happened directly.”

And she warned that “there will be no real progress in the future of Iraq without putting an end to the file of corruption that devours its wealth and pushes millions to the line below poverty.”

The corruption of the Al-Kazemi government caused major crises in the country, with thefts of large amounts of money discovered recently.
