Preliminary data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed that U.S. imports of Iraqi crude oil have fallen to “zero” over the past three weeks.
According to data seen by Shafaq News Agency, “The average US imports of crude oil during the past week from ten major countries amounted to 5.407 million barrels per day, an increase of 329,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week, which recorded 5.078 million barrels per day.”
The administration noted that “the largest quantities of oil imports to America during the past week came from Canada at a rate of 3.751 million barrels per day, followed by Venezuela at 455 thousand barrels, then Guyana at an average of 314 thousand barrels, and Saudi Arabia at a rate of 268 thousand barrels per day.”
According to the statistical table, US imports from Colombia averaged 255,000 barrels per day, from Mexico 213,000 barrels, from Brazil 140,000 barrels, while it imported an average of 11,000 barrels per day from Nigeria, while no oil imports were recorded from Iraq or Argentina.
The United States imports the majority of its crude oil and petroleum product needs from these ten major countries, at a time when its daily consumption is estimated at about 20 million barrels, thus remaining the world’s largest consumer of oil.
