Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Commerce announced, on Tuesday, the achievement of a strategic stock of food basket items for more than a year, which is the first time in the ministry’s history, according to what its agent, Sattar Al-Jabri, said.
Al-Jabri told Shafaq News Agency, “There is a qualitative and positive transformation in the Ministry of Commerce,” adding that, “For the first time, the Ministry has achieved a strategic stock of food basket items for more than a year, in addition to a qualitative improvement in the number of its items.”
He continued, “For the first time in the history of the Iraqi state, the 7 million people covered by social protection receive 24 food baskets in one year, with five items in each basket, including the original basket.”
Al-Jabri pointed out that “four items have been added to the Ramadan basket, so that the number will be 9 items.”
He concluded by saying, “Those included in the social protection network will receive 14 items in the food basket during the month of Ramadan, while the rest of the citizens will receive 9 items in the original basket, and the food basket will be distributed with the 4 added items at the beginning of the month of Ramadan.”
