Iranian television reported on Tuesday that a new wave of missiles had been launched toward Israel, following an official announcement of the assassination of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
In a related development, an account attributed to Larijani on the “X” platform published a handwritten message, without specifying its date, in which he mourned the Iranian navy’s dead.
The message read: “The martyrdom of the heroes of the Islamic Republic’s Navy in Dena is part of the sacrifices of the zealous people that have emerged in the midst of this struggle against international oppressors… Their memory will always remain in the hearts of the Iranian people, and these martyrdoms will strengthen the foundations of the army for many years to come within the structure of the armed forces.”
He added in the message: “I ask God Almighty to raise the ranks of these dear martyrs.”
The circumstances and timing of the letter’s publication remain unclear, and there has been no immediate official Iranian comment on it.
