Israeli media reported on Monday that US aircraft flew near Iranian airspace, in a development that could indicate a possible military strike against Tehran.
Israeli Channel 14 reported that the number of American aircraft near Iranian airspace has increased in recent hours, with planes seen flying in its vicinity.
She added that several KC-135R refueling aircraft, along with B-52 bombers, took off from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
According to the channel, this came after a signal broadcast by the White House on Sunday evening, indicating that in recent hours KC-135R refueling aircraft, as well as B-52 bombers, had taken off from Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The White House had previously posted a statement saying: “God protect our troops, God protect America – and we are still at the beginning.”
The post was accompanied by a picture of US President Donald Trump wearing a hat bearing the numbers “45-47”, in reference to his two terms in office, with the prominent phrase: “Make America Great Again.”
In contrast, Politico quoted a US official as saying earlier today: “There are currently no major movements of US forces or assets in the Middle East, and the window of opportunity (for the president to make a decision) is short.”
Early Monday morning, the US president said he was considering a range of possible responses to developments in Iran, including military options, as massive protests continue to sweep the country.
