Shafaq News/ The Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, the most prominent Shiite armed faction in Iraq, commented on Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections on Wednesday.
The leader of the Brigades, Abbas al-Zaidi, told Shafaq News Agency, “There is no difference between Trump and Biden in policies, and every American president is a diplomatic or presidential representative of the United States of America,” considering that “the truth lies in the deep state and the struggle of institutions in line with the comprehensive strategy that seeks to dominate and control the countries and peoples of the world and confiscate their capabilities and wealth.”
Al-Zaidi added: “As for the Zionist entity, the Jewish pressure lobbies almost control the capital and the media and have the ability to directly influence the victory or loss of any candidate, and from here it is difficult for the American administrations to go against the Israeli trends.”
The leader of the Sayyed al-Shuhada Brigades stressed that “therefore, the issue of escalation or disagreement with all resistance factions and liberation movements for any American administration is subject to Israel’s approval and orientations.”
Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani congratulated President-elect Donald Trump and his Vice President, stressing Iraq’s commitment to strengthening relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect, and expressing his aspiration to deepen cooperation to achieve sustainable development for the two peoples.
The Foreign Relations Committee in the Iraqi Parliament revealed Iraq’s intention to deal with Donald Trump normally despite the arrest warrant issued against him by the Iraqi judiciary on charges of assassinating Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, stressing that the “national interest” requires this dealing.
It is noteworthy that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani had strongly attacked the administration of former US President Donald Trump, during a speech he gave at a memorial ceremony held in Baghdad in 2023 on the anniversary of the assassination of former Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in an airstrike near Baghdad International Airport in early 2020.
The head of the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq, Faiq Zidane, also announced the issuance of arrest warrants against Trump over the orders he issued to kill Soleimani and Al-Muhandis.
Trump announced today, Wednesday, his victory in a second presidential term, stressing that the people granted him this new term.
In a speech after the announcement of the preliminary results, Trump said: “I won a historic victory, and we regained the majority in the Senate,” and pledged to “end the wars.”
