The director of the five-berth project at Faw Port, Raed Al-Sharafi, confirmed Friday, that the completion rate of the berths exceeded 98 percent, while indicating that the port can accommodate 5 giant ships at the same time, and there are negotiations to introduce new berths.
Al-Sharafi said, according to the official agency, that “work is ongoing on the five-berth project, which is the backbone of the port,” indicating that “the completion rate has exceeded 98 percent.”
He explained that “work has been completely completed on the connecting bridges,” noting that “the installation of ship bumpers has reached 80 percent.”
He pointed out that “the total length of the berths is 1,750 meters,” noting that “the berths can accommodate 5 giant ships at the same time.”
He added that “negotiations regarding the addition of 5 new berths have reached advanced stages with one of the major Chinese companies.”
