The White House on Friday revealed details of what it described as the “core commitments” that Iran agreed to in the recent understanding with the United States, denying the validity of the terms published by the official Iranian news agency IRNA regarding the agreement .
A senior US administration official told Shafaq News Agency that what Iranian media outlets published “does not reflect the reality of what was agreed upon,” considering that the Iranian narrative contains fallacies related to the essence of the understandings concluded between the two sides .
The official explained that the agreement stipulates Iran’s commitment to destroying its existing nuclear materials and removing them from the country, in addition to dismantling the infrastructure related to its nuclear program, denying what Tehran reported regarding postponing the handling of the nuclear file for 60 days or the continuation of enrichment operations .
He added that the release of frozen Iranian funds would not be done in advance, stressing that no dollars would be released before Iran fulfilled its obligations, and that the agreement was entirely based on the principle of implementation first .
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the US official stressed that the understanding guarantees that the strait will remain open to international navigation, denying the existence of any arrangements that would allow the continuation of the restrictions imposed by Tehran during the past period .
He pointed out that the agreement includes an Iranian commitment to stop funding groups classified on terrorism lists, indicating that this clause is an essential part of the understandings that were reached .
The official concluded his statement by saying, “This is what they actually agreed to,” considering that what is published in the Iranian media represents an attempt to present a different picture of the commitments that Tehran accepted within the agreement .
