Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, announced on Wednesday that he had submitted the ministry’s plan for the year 2025 to the Oil and Gas Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
Fadel told Shafaq News Agency: “Today, we were hosted by the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee to discuss the operation of production units, providing the necessary fuel to operate these units, and alternative plans in the event of a shortage of imported gas.”
He continued: “We have presented the ministry’s vision and plan for the year 2025 to the parliamentary oil committee, and we seek to continue producing electricity.” The Minister of Electricity explained: “We have a five-year future vision to rely on locally produced gas, and we also have a vision to maximize production capacity through renewable energy.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee hosted Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadhel, senior staff from the ministry, and the Director of Oil Products Distribution at the Ministry of Oil to discuss fuel supplies for the Ministry of Electricity.
During the hosting session, the Minister of Electricity confirmed that the power stations operate on different types of fuel, as some stations depend on imported Iranian gas and kerosene, such as the Bismayah, Al-Sadr and Al-Mansouriyah stations. He explained that there are stations that operate on different types of fuel, including imported and local gas and kerosene.
The minister pointed out that the main electrical units in Baghdad, namely the Bismayah, Sadr and Mansouriya stations, depend entirely on imported Iranian gas, while some generations use kerosene to operate them, especially the Bismayah station, stressing that it is impossible to operate these stations on local national gas at the present time.
