Electoral Commission received a request from the Iraqi Kurdistan to hold presidential elections in July and August next
the Electoral Commission announced the election, Saturday, received a request from the Kurdistan region of Iraq holding the presidency of the region and its parliament in July and August next.
A member of the Board of Commissioners Soran Ahmed told reporters, including reporter “obelisk”, “The Kurdistan region of Iraq sent us a request to hold elections of his presidency and parliament in July and August next,” noting that “the coming weeks will witness identification elections and take logistics requirements in coordination with officials in the region “.
Ahmed stressed that “election time, the region will not exceed next July and August,” pointing to “the need to work on the preparation of voter registration and delve into the technical and administrative work.”
It is the second time in which the elections for the presidency of the Kurdistan region of Iraq since 2003, where he underwent four years ago and won by current President Massoud Barzani of the Democratic Unionist Party (PKK).
