The Election Commission confirmed today, Friday, that the manual counting and sorting of governorate council polling stations that did not send their results electronically will end next Sunday, while it expected that its result would lead to a “simple” change in the announced preliminary results.
Commission spokesman Imad Jamil told the official media, “Counting and sorting operations are continuing in all audit centers in the governorates. There are governorates that will complete the counting and sorting operations today, Friday, and the rest of the governorates that have a large number of stations will end tomorrow, Saturday.”
Jamil added, “The two largest centers where counting and sorting operations take place are the Al-Karkh Center, which has 346 stations, and the Rusafa Center, which has 224 stations,” stressing that “70% of the counting and sorting process for the stations of these two centers will be completed today, and the remainder will be completed tomorrow.”
He pointed out that “the counting and sorting operations will end by next Sunday in all centers,” noting that “the 118 complaints that were submitted have been resolved, 55 of which relate to the private vote and 63 complaints submitted in the general vote.”
The Electoral Commission spokesman confirmed that “the counting and sorting operations will lead to a slight change in the results and their impact will not be significant.”
Last Tuesday, the Commission announced that the Nebni Alliance won first place in the local elections, followed by the State of Law Coalition, the National Forces Alliance, and the Taqadum Party.
The voter turnout rate reached 41 percent, with more than 6 million voters participating in the ballot, out of a total of 16 million citizens entitled to cast their votes, according to the Election Commission announced.
