Economist - There is no need for a special law granting Saudi Arabia investments in IraqAl-Maalouma/Baghdad..
Economic researcher Diaa Abdul Karim confirmed that Iraq does not need to enact a special law that would allow Saudi Arabia to invest domestically, indicating that many countries have existing investments and projects in Iraq without the need for special bilateral laws.
Abdul Karim said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “Foreign investment is available in Iraq, and there is official encouragement to open the doors to major international companies with the aim of reconstruction and development in various sectors.”
He added, “Any laws related to investment must have their economic feasibility carefully studied before being presented to parliament for a vote, because they directly affect the country’s economic security and cannot be passed without knowing their true benefits.”
He pointed out that “Iraq has opened the way for all countries to invest in accordance with the laws in force, and therefore there is no justification for passing a special law for Saudi Arabia, as it, like other countries, can submit its offers and projects to invest in Iraq within the existing legal framework.”
