Economic expert Dirgham al-Haidari stated on Thursday that the 2026 budget will face significant challenges that could hinder its approval. He predicted that the next government will be limited to disbursing salaries according to the Financial Management Law without approving a full budget.
Al-Haidari told the Information Agency, “The most prominent challenges facing the government during the preparation of the 2026 budget are the inability to estimate oil prices and export volumes due to political and security fluctuations in the region, as well as the lack of a clear vision for the size of non-oil revenues.”
He added, “The delay in forming the three presidencies and the new government will directly affect the preparation of the upcoming budget,” predicting that “the 2026 budget will not be approved, and the government will only disburse salaries and necessary expenditures based on the Financial Management Law.”
