Monday, the Sudanese Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’a, announced the opening of outlets for selling dollars in government banks in order to control the rise in exchange rates.
Al-Sudani said, during the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers, that “there is a clear increase in the exchange rate of the dollar due to the increase in customer requests to the Central Bank, and fake companies inflating prices in order to get the dollar out, in addition to that there are exaggerated prices for remittances.”
And he stressed, “There is strict control over the issue of dollar exchange,” noting that “the opening of outlets for selling dollars in government banks in order to control the rise in exchange, and the central bank’s reduction of the selling price of the dollar, as well as the diversification of credits and external transfers,” noting that “the financial situation Iraq is in its best condition, and the reserve amounted to 96 billion dollars.
He noted that “he will participate tomorrow in the Baghdad Summit 2, which will be held in Amman, stressing the endeavor to allocate service and economic integration between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.”
Regarding oil smuggling, he indicated that this file is “one of the most prominent, important and dangerous files, and in the latest outcome, oil smuggling networks were dismantled, as 18 of the associates involved in smuggling were arrested, and there are 14 others who are still on the run, in addition to the arrest of 121.” smuggled from civilians, and confiscating 1,781,000 liters.”
In another context, Al-Sudani drew attention to “the initiation of 192 projects in the governorates of Wasit, Karbala and Basra out of more than 2,000 projects,” considering that “the work of these projects will represent a qualitative and major leap.”
And the Prime Minister added, “It was approved to add and increase foodstuffs and their vocabulary for those covered by the social protection network, by (1 liter cooking oil, 250 gm milk, 200 gm tea, and zero flour).”
Regarding the Kirkuk incident, Al-Sudani said, “There are fatal mistakes that are made by the security forces, and there is a clear defect that led to the Kirkuk incident.”
