Today, Saturday, the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Resources Committee revealed the fact that the Kurdish delegation that recently visited Baghdad touched on the oil and gas law file, and while it revealed the latest developments in the law, it indicated the date of its introduction.
Committee member, Intisar Al-Jazairi, said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The meeting that was held between the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, and the Kurdish delegation, in the capital, Baghdad, discussed several files, including the export of Kurdish oil, but it did not touch on the oil law.” And gas.”
She added, “This law is currently in the corridors of the federal government, in agreement with the political blocs,” adding: “Until now, no new developments have emerged regarding oil and gas.”
A member of the Parliamentary Oil Committee explained, “The oil law will be presented during the next year, i.e. 2024, in a strong manner on the scene, but so far no negotiations have appeared between the Kurdish delegation and federal government officials, especially regarding the oil and gas law.”
Earlier, the representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Sharif Suleiman, confirmed that most of the problems occurring between Baghdad and Erbil occurred as a result of the absence of an oil and gas law, pointing out that there is an active movement to approve this law.
Last Monday (November 27, 2023), a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government visited the capital, Baghdad, to discuss a number of files, most notably oil, salaries, and the budget.
