A member of the House of Representatives, Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed, on Thursday, that the extraordinary session of Parliament on the dollar crisis will be held even if it returns to normal.
Al-Karawi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The dollar crisis after the steady rise in its exchange rates raised great concern in the Iraqi markets, which necessitated a parliamentary position to hold an extraordinary session, and more than 100 signatures were collected in order to hold it as soon as possible.”
He added, “Despite the recovery of exchange rates during the past two days, this does not mean canceling the holding of the special session in order to explain the reasons behind the recent rise and indicate what the government solutions are to avoid its recurrence in the short and medium term.”
Al-Karawi pointed out that “the exchange rate of the dollar is still high, and we hope that it will be reviewed by the Central Bank in order to create a balance in the markets.”
