Today, Sunday, the representative of the Iraq Resolve Alliance, Muhammad Qutayba al-Bayati, revealed that the Finance Committee held its meetings on discussing and amending the budget law outside the parliament building.
Al-Bayati said in a statement to the “Al-Mutala” agency, “The Finance Committee holds its meetings regarding the budget and what it does in terms of amendments and discussions outside the parliament building, and what is issued in terms of leaks and news that the rest of the members hear through the media, and we cannot confirm or deny what is issued.”
He added, “The budget has not yet been discussed under the dome of Parliament,” noting that “all members of the House of Representatives who are outside the Finance Committee did not attend its meetings and discussions and were deprived of this constitutional and legal right.”
He explained, “Although the Finance Committee is concerned with the budget, the rest of the parliament members have the right to see its details.”
It is noteworthy that the Parliamentary Finance Committee suspended its work until further notice, following the request of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, to do so, against the background of making amendments to the budget by the committee, which was rejected by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
