The leader of the State of Law coalition, Representative Muhammad Al-Saihoud, confirmed the existence of a political consensus to pass the budget in the middle of next month, indicating that the Finance Committee will complete its discussions with specialists in the next three days.
Al-Saihoud said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The Parliamentary Finance Committee will host today the Minister of Finance, and it will be followed by hosting the ministers concerned with the budget, with the aim of listening to their demands and comparing them with what exists, as well as with what was put forward during the second reading by members of the House of Representatives.”
He added, “This hosting will not take three days from today for the purpose of expediting its payment to vote,” noting that “the current budget for the years 24 and 25 represents the aspirations of the Iraqi people and is in harmony with the government’s program of the coordination framework.”
Al-Sudani indicated that “there are only a few weeks left to vote on the draft law, and the final vote will not exceed the middle of next month.”
