Shafaq News/ Shakhwan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, stated on Saturday that the administration of US President Donald Trump may issue new political and economic decisions related to Iraq.
This came in a speech he delivered during a scientific conference on the present and future of Kirkuk, which was held at Soran University in the Kurdistan Region.
Abdullah said in his speech that Kirkuk has always been a site of conflict between the great powers due to its wealth of intellectual, mineral and natural resources, and because of its location it has always faced policies of Arabization and demographic change.
He stressed that it is the duty of all parties to return rights to their owners in Kirkuk in order to erase the influence of successive regimes on the rule of Iraq.
Abdullah stressed that the Iraqi Parliament would reactivate the Article 140 Committee, thus abolishing the legacy of the Baath regime and its attempts to change the demographic composition of the areas covered by that article.
Abdullah also referred to his recent visit to the United States of America and his return to Iraq this morning, indicating that one of the issues he discussed during that visit with the US Assistant Secretary of State and the head of the religious authority in the United States was the issue of Kirkuk and the disputed areas, and that they view those areas with great importance.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives continued, saying that the new US administration may issue several new political and economic decisions related to Iraq and the United States, which has been discussed several times with the federal government.
